I have a confession to make. In my little girl’s 3 years of life, she has never had a birthday party — ever. Isn’t that so sad? I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s not like planning a party is so hard — you just have to have the right Party Supplies and you’re pretty much good to go. Ha, so easy for me to say yet I’ve never once done it for Erynne. Poor girl. What is she going to think of me when she grows up? I have to throw her a party for her next birthday — it’s do or die. Every child deserves birthday parties, big or small. Knowing me, as early as now, I should look at Birthday Party Supplies so that I don’t have the same excuse that I couldn’t think of a theme in advance. Yes folks, I always seem to use that excuse year after year and honestly, it has to stop. Who cares if a party doesn’t have a theme — just throw a party regardless! Ugh, I’m so annoyed with myself (I’m such a lame mom!). I have exactly 7 months to plan a birthday party for Erynne. I’d be willing to bet I’d be able to score some Discount Party Supplies right now. Want to help me think of a theme?

To dog or not to dog?

July 24, 2008

We’ve been flirting with the idea of getting a dog for quite some time now.  We’ve even looked up Pet Information to guide us in this journey, if ever.  We know Erynne would absolutely love it and I’ve seen so many of my friends and family so happy with their animals — I want something like that for us and for Erynne as well.  Just the other day when I went to get some alteration work done on my jeans, there was a small puppy at the alteration store.  I thought Erynne would never leave the store!  She seriously wanted to take the puppy home with us!  I felt so bad right after as she wouldn’t stop asking me when we were going to pick up a puppy.  My sister and I never had the luxury of owning a pet before so I definitely know what Erynne is/would be feeling if we deprived her of a pet.  But nothing is definite yet as we’re still in our researching stage as to what type of dog would be best for kids, which food is the best Natural Dog Food (do you have a cat?  They have info on Natural Cat Food too, fyi), etc.   Getting an animal is a serious matter — I want to make sure we’re fully prepared to take on such a big responsibility.  We’ll see.

Two Seasons.

July 23, 2008

This is where we plan to stay in Boracay in a few weeks. I’m so excited! We’ll be going during rainy season but no worries for me — I’ll be content just sitting in the room. Or playing in the pool because yes, we will have pool access (literally right outside the big windows). And their showers? You can fit a whole volleyball team in there, supposedly. I have a feeling Two Seasons will be the highlight of our Boracay trip — not the beach. Hahahahaha!

Carry my baby for me?

July 23, 2008

Let me make it very clear: I am not pregnant.

I can’t tell you how many people have asked the hubby and I when we plan to have another baby. Um, when you’re ready to carry the baby for me in your body is what I’d like to tell them but I just stay put and do what I always do - come up with the same excuse that I’m just too fat to get pregnant right about now.

But honestly? If we did get pregnant again, it’d be so exciting. For one, I’d be pregnant in the States where all my friends and family are. Don’t ask me why but I never received Baby Shower Gifts. I didn’t get a baby shower when I was pregnant with Erynne. However, it didn’t hit me until after the birth that nobody gave me Baby Gifts. Not that I’m complaining folks because I really am not. Everything my baby needed when she came into the world, she received. I’m just saying that should I get pregnant again, it’s probably going to be a little different — I’d have more people dotting on me (like my mom!) and who knows, maybe I’ll finally get those Diaper Cakes I’ve always thought were so cute.

So when’s the next baby coming, you ask?  Ha!

Got this from Kelly.

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.
You can tell when it’s time to let kids off the hook, and when it’s time to lay down the law.
While your parenting is modern and hip, it’s not over the top.
You know that there’s nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager… or a drill sergeant!

Let’s hope this is true. I really want to be the kind of parent that my kids won’t hide things from. I didn’t always have an open relationship with my own parents so naturally, I hid a lot of secrets from them. A reason for this is because they were always working so much. That explains why I stay at home with the little girl. However, parenting is hard and now that I am one, I understand that you can’t always please your kids. There are days Erynne loves me and days she doesn’t. But hey, who said life was fair? She’ll understand all this when she’s a parent too.

Allergies.

July 21, 2008

I spoke to 3 nurses this weekend when I called the after-hours nurse hotline at our doctor’s clinic. They all wanted to know if Erynne had been tested for hay fever or if she had any allergies of any kind and if we had a high level of pollen around us. How would I know? I don’t even know what pollen looks like! I’ve never had allergies in my life so I have no idea what to look out for. Maybe we should invest in an air purifier anyways? God forbid we end up with noisy air cleaners!  Sleeping with the humidifier on last night wasn’t all that great (the motor was a bit loud) so if we were to get an air cleaner, it’d have to be silent (if such a thing exists). Good thing a guide exists online so that I’d know what we’d be looking for if and when we set out to purchase one.

Honey and steam.

July 21, 2008

Thank God for honey.  It’s apparently good for coughing according to the nurse at our assigned doctor’s clinic.  I didn’t bother to ask how or why (but I will again) but after half a teaspoon (to a teaspoon, as needed), Erynne’s coughing really did subside on Saturday afternoon.  Sunday found her a lot more comfortable — so comfortable she was up and about singing and playing and laughing and being her sarcastic self.  Let’s hope today is a good one.

As for the steam?  I guess it’s the same idea as the humidifier — I let the hot water run in Erynne’s shower on Saturday night for about 20 minutes and I let her play there so she could inhale the steam (again, this was ordered by the nurse since we hadn’t yet bought a humidifier).  It worked wonders!  Fabulous how simple home remedies can go such a long way.

Tired of gaining.

July 19, 2008

I gained .4 pounds (again!!!!!) at my last weigh-in on Monday.  What is going on?  Well, okay that was a dumb question.  I obviously know what’s going on (I no longer measure my food intake and I’m not as disciplined as before).  I can’t seem to get out of this rut.  Remember that post about how I wouldn’t be surprised if my mom starts to take diet pills because she’s not doing so well on Jenny Craig?  What if I do the same?

I went ahead and researched the 10 best diet pills.  Orovo is listed as #1 on consumerpricewatch.net.  I’ve never heard of it before (it was invented by a full-time mother!) but I’m quite intrigued — I guess you can get perfect skin while also losing weight!  It’s apparently so effective that athletes, actresses, and celebrities are even using it.  If I order through consumerpricewatch.net, I can get it for $39.99 — otherwise, Orovo retails for $80.00 per bottle elsewhere.  Not bad at all.  If you want to know the other 9 best diet pills (and get the best prices), you should definitely check out consumerpricewatch.net — read up on consumer testimonials and see how some of these diet pills have helped others.

Not so great night.

July 19, 2008

The little girl is sick.  And bad.  She has a nasty cold and none of us slept well last night.  Because she doesn’t know how to expel the phlegm in her throat (from her stuffy nose), Erynne ends up vomitting.  And she absolutely hates that her nose is so stuffy so she wakes up throughout the night whining about her nose.  I really hate it when she gets sick.  I laid in bed just praying that her cold would end and I could get her cold instead.  Tonight probably won’t be any better.  Ugh.

The neighbor’s house.

July 16, 2008

I was watering the plants this afternoon and I couldn’t help but gush over our neighbor’s exterior shutters.  They’ve done a lot of improvements on their home throughout this year — they put synthetic grass on their lawn, they completely re-did their front driveway, they turned their front windows facing the street into a bay window and now?  They have their exterior shutters which look absolutely fantastic with their bay windows.  Love, love, love it!  And the color of their home is really nice and neutral so the dark navy color of their exterior shutters goes well with their white trimmings.  I’m jealous!  I want a bay window and exterior shutters too.
